ecoCoolStore is not only a cooling product.
It has the potential to become the nucleus of a regional manufacturing ecosystem – linking agricultural raw materials, bio-based construction, energy systems, refrigeration technology, local assembly, maintenance, and training as well as ultimately applied research.
The objective is to localise an increasing share of the value chain over time, while maintaining defined quality standards, traceability and technical reliability.

Cooling and Thermal Storage
The cooling system must be designed around the actual product and the required temperature range – not around one standard air-conditioning unit.
Here, Global Ice Tec has been at the forefront of development and field implementation Ice-tank and latent-cold-storage technology with actual experimental experience in Africa:

Additional technology aspects which are potential development fields to be covered:
- Production or regional assembly of heat exchangers and thermal-storage components
- Production and Integration of low-power, high-efficiency cooling and air-conditioning systems, potentially with established refrigeration partners
- Development of different configurations of containers for fish, fruit, vegetables, dairy, seeds, coffee, cocoa, medicines and other applications
- Local service, spare-parts and maintenance capability
Bio-Based Materials and
Panel Production
The ecoHAB system offers the possibility of establishing regional supply chains for sustainable construction materials.
- PopCorn core material – regional sourcing and milling of suitable grain-based raw materials for the lightweight insulating core; Local Installation of puffing-related processing capability which may also be employed for other cereal-based value chains
- Hemp, flax and coir fibres – cultivation, extraction, cleaning, grading, quality improvement and production of technical fibre fleeces
- Laminating and panel machinery – installation and operation of production equipment for structural bio-composite panels
- Large-scale ecoHAB panel production – planned with Smarter Habitat, combining licensed know-how, quality assurance, local materials and locally trained production teams
Energy and Power Systems
Each deployment region has different solar conditions, grid stability, transport distances and cooling requirements.
- Design and adaptation of solar-PV systems to the local cooling load
- Assembly, import substitution and, where feasible, regional production of power electronics, inverters and control systems
- Development of robust, easily serviceable electrical systems for remote operation
- Training for installation, commissioning and maintenance
Beyond One Container
Over time, the platform has the potential to develop from ecoCoolStore units into a broader African competence base for sustainable panels, solar-powered cooling, thermal storage, food logistics and local technical employment.
