A Disciplined Path from
Proof of Concept to
Local Manufacturing.
The first ecoCoolStore pilot units could be built in Africa using a supply of Laminates in combination with locally available insulation materials such as PU or PE-based systems and to the same standards, dimensions, interfaces, layout, internal equipment and operating concept as the future ecoHAB version.
This enables rapid deployment, predictable cost, straightforward certification and a commercially meaningful proof of concept – without delay and with initial committing €20 million to an industrial- scale MicroPopCorn production line.
The core proposition is demonstrated from the first unit onwards:
- Solar-powered, grid-independent cooling
- Product-specific temperature control
- Latent cold storage for resilience during
night-time and power interruptions - Modular installation without heavy lifting equipment
- Local operation, servicing and replication
- Reduced post-harvest losses and stronger local market access
At the same time, the first reference ecoCoolStore unit can be supplied from Europe with the full ecoHAB MicroPopCorn insulation system. This unit will demonstrate the lightweight construction, the advanced thermal performance, and potential of the sustainable materials on the intended long-term platform.
The two approaches are complementary:

The local production of MicroPopCorn core insulation materials, fiber fleeces and ecoHAB panels should therefore follow – not precede – demonstrated demand, operating data, local raw-material availability and a credible production pipeline.
The Responsible Investment Sequence:
First prove the cold-chain platform in real operating conditions; then invest in the manufacturing ecosystem that can scale it across Africa.
